Mark Williams (Partner)
Mark is a partner in the firm's Dispute Resolution & Litigation Group.
He specialises in commercial litigation for corporate clients and local governments, focusing on professional indemnity and public liability claims, contractual disputes, superannuation, defamation proceedings, prosecutions, injunctions and administrative reviews.
His training and experience as an officer in the Royal Australian Infantry Corps has strengthened his skills through the application of tactical and operational planning, management and teamwork. He has held various command positions, and has been awarded prizes for tactical planning excellence, and the prestigious Sword of Honour.
Mark is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, and a member of the Australian Insurance Law Association and the Australian Professional Indemnity Group. He also holds a Diploma of Financial Services - General Insurance.
John Butt (Partner)
John is a partner in the firm's Dispute Resolution & Litigation Group.
Admitted to practise in 1993, John is a member of the Queensland Environmental Law Association and the Australian Insurance Law Association. He has broad-based experience in providing strategic advice on commercial disputes, and in litigating and resolving such disputes for corporate and government clients. He focuses particularly on disputes concerning major infrastructure development projects, land resumption, and judicial review of administrative action.
Darius Isaacs (Partner)
Darius is a Partner in the firm's Dispute Resolution & Litigation Group.
He has over 10 years insurance litigation experience at national and local firm levels, and in-house at a major insurance company.
Darius has conduct of disputed commercial claims involving local governments, including the defence of public liability and professional indemnity claims. He also advises on risk management, indemnity entitlement, and other insurance-related issues, and, in conjunction with the Local Government Association of Queensland, delivers training seminars for councillors and senior council staff.
Darius is a member of the Australian Insurance Law Association and the Australian Professional Indemnity Group.
Kirsty Ling (Senior Associate)
Kirsty is a senior associate in the firm's Dispute Resolution & Litigation Group.
Admitted to practise in December 2002, she joined the firm in 2005. Kirsty's experience spans multiple disciplines, including liability, asbestos claims, intellectual property, media, environment and planning, in which she has provided advice to, and conducted litigation for, private and public sector clients.
Clare Heitkonig (Associate)
Clare is an Associate in the firm's Planning & Environment Group. She also undertakes work in the Dispute Resolution & Litigation Group.
She completed a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business Management, with honours, at The University of Queensland in 2017. Clare joined the firm in 2017 and was admitted to practise in 2018.
Clare works in many areas of the firm's operations, with a primary focus on planning and environment matters, right to information and privacy law, sale and acquisition of land for overdue rates and charges and general advisory work. She is a sub-committee member of the Queensland Environmental Law Association.
Peita Crombie (Paralegal)
Peita is a paralegal in the firm's Dispute Resolution & Litigation Group.
She joined the firm in 2002 and works in the defence of public liability and professional indemnity claims against local governments. Peita is responsible for the management of all post settlement procedures for those claims.
