Mark Williams, Partner

LLB, Grad Dip LP, Dip Financial Services (Insurance), ACSC (Reserve).  Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland.  Solicitor of the High Court of Australia.  

Experience:

Mark was appointed as a Partner of King & Company in 2004 and is a member of our Insurance & Dispute Resolution group.

He has over 25 years of experience in law.  His focus is on commercial litigation for corporate, government and government-related entities, and has gained extensive experience in a wide range of areas including:

  • professional indemnity claims arising from developmental approvals, advice, flooding, climate change and design work;
  • public liability claims in connection with assets, vehicles and services causing personal injury or damage to property;
  • superannuation trustee obligations and life insurance claims;
  • defamation;
  • climate-change liability implications;
  • enforcement of contractual indemnities;
  • advising on a wide range of liability and risk management issues.

Mark is proud to have been recognised by clients and peers in the Doyle’s Guide of Leading Public and Occupier Liability Lawyers (Defendant), Brisbane, for his expertise in public liability insurance matters.

His training and experience as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Australian Infantry Corps of the Australian Army have strengthened his skills through the application of tactical and operational planning, leadership, management and teamwork.  He has held various command positions, has deployed on operations and has been awarded the Sword of Honour and prizes for tactical planning excellence, and command, leadership and ethics.

Mark holds a current practising certificate from the Queensland Law Society.  He is also a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, and a Member of the Australian Insurance Law Association and the Australian Professional Indemnity Group.  Mark chairs King & Company’s Health & Wellbeing Committee.
