Experience:
John was admitted as a Solicitor in 1992.
He has over 25 years of experience in the conduct of matters before the District Court and Supreme Court of Queensland, Land Court and Land Appeal Court of Queensland and High Court of Australia.
Prior to joining our firm in 2000, he worked in government in the United Kingdom and for two other Queensland law firms practicing in disputes and litigation.
He was made a Partner of our firm in 2008.
John provides strategic and practical advice to our clients on a wide range of disputes and litigation.
The current focus of John’s practice involves:
- judicial review proceedings challenging local government and state government decisions;
- dispute resolution and litigation concerning infrastructure projects and the supply of services;
- local government rates and charges, budgets and governance; and
- compulsory acquisition and compensation matters.
John takes a proactive and personable approach aimed at best promoting positive outcomes. He has enjoyed repeated success in many of the most significant court cases in Queensland concerning local government rating powers.
John holds a current practising certificate from the Queensland Law Society. He is a member of the Queensland Environmental Law Association (QELA) and our firm's Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
