Rebecca Durrant, Senior Associate

Qualifications:

LLB(Hons.), BA (Extended Major Archaeology).  Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland.  Solicitor of the High Court of Australia.

Experience:

Rebecca is a senior solicitor with an extensive background advising on a broad range of  property matters.  She has previously worked at a number of national and international firms before joining the team at King & Company.

Rebecca is experienced in all areas of property law, with a particular emphasis on government, commercial and retail leasing.  Her experience includes:

  • assisting Councils on acquisition and disposal of land matters and acting in associated negotiations and settlements;
  • assisting Councils on government leasing, licensing and permit matters, including associated negotiations;
  • acting for landlord and tenant in negotiating agreements for lease, leases, subleases and other collateral documentation such as access licences, side deeds and loan agreements;
  • advising and acting for landlords in connection with redevelopment projects, including advice regarding relocation and demolition of existing tenancies, negotiating access rights and handling compensation disputes;
  • advising on complex titling matters;
  • advising and acting for landlords in relation to tenant bankruptcy and insolvency matters;
  • acting for landowners and telecommunication companies in negotiating agreements for telecommunication licences and leases and installation of telecommunication towers; and
  • undertaking Building Contract Review's for financiers in respect of building and development contracts in Queensland.

Significant projects which Rebecca has advised on include the development of Eagle Farm Racecourse and the re-development of the RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane, as well as representing large property trusts for their national leasing portfolios.

Rebecca holds a current practising certificate and membership from the Queensland Law Society and is a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland. She is also chair of King & Company’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
