Kristie Taylor, Special Counsel

Planning and Environment, Industrial Relations and Human Resources, Corporate Governance and Delegations.

Qualifications:

LLB (Hons).  Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland.  Solicitor of the High Court of Australia.

Experience:

Kristie focuses on planning and environment matters and providing advice to local government on employment matters.  Kristie has a broad experience of litigation across State and Federal courts, and in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.

In planning and environment matters, Kristie’s main areas of work involve:

  • planning advice;
  • conducting planning appeals; and
  • reviewing adopted infrastructure charges resolutions for local government.

Kristie takes responsibility for all employment matters the firm undertakes, together with Tim Fynes-Clinton.  Kristie’s focus in employment matters is on assisting local government clients and other employers associated with local government who are subject to regulation by the Industrial Relations Act 2016.  This gives her a deep understanding of the employment and industrial issues confronting local government and the legislation to which they are subject.

Her day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • preparing employment contracts for senior executive staff;
  • providing advice to local government on disciplinary processes and drafting associated notices of disciplinary action;
  • reviewing workplace investigations;
  • providing advice on the interpretation of certified agreements and the various local government awards;
  • providing advice on the termination of employees and the implementation of workplace change and restructuring; and
  • drafting settlement agreements.

Kristie takes responsibility for preparing the delegations registers made available to local government via the LGAQ.  She also assists local governments in preparing and implementing delegations registers to suit their individual circumstances.

Kristie has expertise advising on various local government governance matters, including councillor conduct matters and the drafting and reviewing of various policies and procedures for local government.

Kristie is a member of the Queensland Law Society and Queensland Environmental Law Association.  She is also a member of King & Company’s Events Committee.
